The Board for Poirewa Aotearoa Volleyball New Zealand (VNZ) is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Upfold to the role of Kaiwhakahaere Matua Chief Executive (CE).
Steve will move into the permanent CE role after working in the interim role since the start of May this year. This appointment allows Steve to build on the organisation’s achievements so far and supports a seamless transition.
A recruitment panel was established by the board and consisted of three board members, an independent member nominated by Sport NZ and a recruitment consultant. The panel worked through a robust recruitment and selection process which concluded with it final decision in late September. During the final stages of the process, the panel met with several highly-talented leaders from a range of sports-related experiences. In the end, the panel was unanimous in its view that Steve was the best leader to transition VNZ to a new level of performance.
